Will I have to serve waiting periods again if I am switching from another health fund?

No, not if you are switching from a comparable level of cover. We’ll recognise the waiting periods already served on comparable services so you can claim straight away. The break between switching from your previous health fund to us must be 59 days or less, otherwise waiting periods will need to be re-served.

Waiting periods will apply for:

  • services not currently covered,
  • services with higher benefit limits, or
  • where waiting periods haven’t been fully served.

Also, if you’re switching to a cover with a lower excess, the higher excess will apply until the relevant waiting periods have been served.

Any benefit limits already used with your current fund will apply to your Qantas Health Insurance policy.
